As a huge music lover, I’m always excited to see what others have to say about certain artists or albums I enjoy or are interested in. I frequently check sites such as Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and NPR to stay updated with the latest in music reviews. However, there’s another lesser-known site that I check quite frequently. That site is none other than Texas State’s KTSW 89.9 blog, which we’re going to be looking into today!
KTSW 89.9 is the official Texas State student-run campus radio which covers the entire San Marcos area, as well as parts of Austin and San Antonio. While KTSW primarily focuses on playing lesser-known local and national artists on-air, their online presence covers all that and more. One thing I love most about this blog is the diversity in the content it has. Not only is there music reviews for all different artists in all different genres, there’s also concert reviews, artists interviews, and journalist-made playlists. Another thing I find so inspiring about this blog is that it’s completely ran by students. It provides a sense of comfort knowing that there’s a group of students who all have the same passion for music that I have.

Let it be known, as someone’s who’s involved in the music department at KTSW, I do have a bias towards this blog site. However, being part of this organization is what ultimately inspired me to start my own blog. As I’ve been contributing my own posts and reviews to KTSW, I’ve started to grow an even bigger love for music reviewing, which is something I might even pursue in the future. Besides music, KTSW’s blog also provides an array of content that involves topics such as local news, college life, and sports. All in all, I think this site is great not just for those who like music, but for any other student who needs inspiration to start their own blog or website.
